2020/2021 Harvest Plan comes into force this Wednesday; see interest rates and volume!

As of this Wednesday, the 1st, the new 2020/2021 Harvest Plan comes into force. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, rural producers can now access financing resources at banks that operate with rural credit and credit cooperatives. In this cycle, the federal government provided R$ 236.3 billion to support national agricultural production, an increase of 6.1% (plus R$ 13.5 billion) in relation to the previous harvest.

“The resource, announced at the launch of the Harvest Plan, two weeks ago, will contribute to ensuring the continuity of production in the field and the food supply in the country during and after the new coronavirus pandemic,” said the ministry.

Funding resources

Of the planned total of R$ 236.3 billion from the Safra Plan, R$ 179.38 billion is earmarked for funding, commercialization and industrialization and R$ 56.92 billion for investments.

For 2021 rural insurance, the government has made R$ 1.3 billion available. The value should enable the contracting of 298 thousand policies, with an insured amount of around R$ 52 billion and coverage of 21 million hectares. The budget for coffee crops has R$ 5.7 billion.

Pronaf

Small rural producers will have R$ 33 billion for financing by the National Program for Strengthening Family Agriculture (Pronaf), with interest of 2,75% and 4% per year, for funding and marketing.

Pronamp

For medium producers, R$ 33.1 billion will be allocated, through the National Support Program for Medium Rural Producers (Pronamp), with interest rates of 5% per year (costing and marketing).

Large producers and cooperatives

In financing for large producers, the annual interest rate will be 6% for funding and 7% for investment. Another sector that will benefit will be commercial fishing, which will have greater access to rural credit. In this way, the activity will be able to finance the purchase of equipment and infrastructure for processing, storing and transporting fish.

The information from the 2020-2021 Harvest Plan is consolidated in the Rural Credit Manual.

Sicredi

To reinforce its strong presence with Brazilian agribusiness, consolidating its position among the sector's main financiers, Sicredi will make more than R$ 22.9 billion available in rural credit in the 2020/2021 Harvest Plan.

This represents an increase of 10% compared to the previous crop year. The projection is that resources will be made available for approximately 227 thousand operations.

Of this total, the expectation of the cooperative financial institution, which brings together more than 4.5 million members, is to make R$ 10.4 billion available for funding, commercialization, industrialization and investment operations, R$ 5.2 billion via the National Support Program for Medium Rural Producer (Pronamp). And R$ 4.3 billion via the National Program for Strengthening Family Agriculture (Pronaf), in addition to R$ 3 billion with targeted resources from the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES).
