If you have children up to 6 years old, know that you can receive Childcare Assistance from the government, and in some cases, the benefit can extend for a longer period.

The benefit of Daycare Assistance was previously not a law, but rather a right established by the CLT (Consolidation of Labor Laws), that is, for those families in which one or both parents had asigned artwork.

However, more recently, the Federal Government approved a bill consolidating the benefit to help families that have a member with a formal contract, who is responsible for the child.

Thus, the Daycare Assistance became another benefit funded by FGTS (Service Time Guarantee Fund)

Today we have separated some information for you to stay up to date with Childcare assistance and know how to benefit.

What is Daycare Assistance?

Daycare Assistance, in a way, is aimed at women who are mothers and work, so it is a cost aid to pay for daycare for their children or stepchildren, guaranteeing child safety.

According to the law, it is a mother's right to have a safe place to leave her children while she works. Therefore, some companies have their own space for children, so that employees can work more calmly.

But we know that not all companies offer this, so they choose to pay the costs of a external daycare, being a duty of the company towards its employees.

However, in some cases, it is optional for the employer to pay for daycare, and some do not do so. Thus, the government makes this cost assistance available to families.

Which companies are required to pay the bonus?

In principle, it is not really an obligation under the CLT law for the employer to pay for a daycare center for employees' children, so some families are left without receiving help, they have to pay with their own salary if they want their children to go to a nursery.

Companies that are required by law to pay for the benefit are those that have at least 30 women, aged over 16 years. These companies, if they are unable to provide their own appropriate place for children and do not pay for an external place, are subject to paying a fine.

Of course, even smaller companies and organizations can offer assistance, but it is not an obligation, it will just be the company valuing a healthier and more productive work environment, which really shows the character of its leaders.

What is the value of the Daycare Assistance benefit?

Daycare Assistance does not have a pre-established valueTherefore, this must be agreed between the company and the employee.

Unlike other allowances such as Transport Allowance and Food Voucher, Daycare Allowance cannot be advanced or converted, its sole purpose being to provide child care.

It is then possible for the company to have its own space for families to leave their children, or even pay a fee for an affiliated daycare center.

But when the value of a external daycare exceeds the amount stipulated by the company, it is not obliged to pay the remainder, and it is the parents' responsibility to top up the amount.
